Birdworld’s T-Rexcellent dinosaur extravaganza roars into Easter
Families at Birdworld are set to have a roar-some time this Easter, as dinosaurs descend on the popular attraction.
The prehistoric extravaganza will see the UK’s largest bird park host a Dinosaur Discovery Trail – featuring large dinosaur models - from Saturday 5 April, all included in the cost of their entry ticket.
Children and adults alike can immerse themselves in learning about our feathered friends’ ancient predecessors, with a focus on how modern birds may have looked and behaved 65 million years ago.
Dinosaurs featuring on the Dinosaur Discovery Trail includes favourites such as Stegosaurus, Triceratops, Velociraptor's and even a ferocious Tyrannosaurus Rex., but don’t worry, she is perfectly safe to snap a quick selfie with!
Eagle-eyed visitors will also be pleased to spot the return of Farnham Pottery, who recently provided hand-crafted footprint tiles for Birdworld’s new Wetland Waders enclosure. This time, they are stepping back in time and creating life-size replicas of dinosaur fossils, which will be placed in the Mary Anning Cabin, located near the Emu enclosure.
The Cabin celebrates female scientists from past to present, and is named after Mary Anning, the pioneering palaeontologist who discovered thousands of fossils and prehistoric animals in the 1700s.
“The connection between birds and dinosaurs is closer than many people realise, and at Birdworld, we’re excited to bring this fascinating link to life,” said James Robson, General Manager at Birdworld.
“Our Dinosaur Discovery Trail and Fossil Trail will introduce visitors to this connection in a fun and engaging way, making it accessible for all ages.”
He added: “Guests will also come face to face with some of Birdworld’s very own ‘real-life dinosaurs’, such as our emu family, Shrub, Forest, and Matilda. Listen carefully when you visit, as their deep, low rumbles are believed to be similar to the sounds made by the mighty T. rex millions of years ago!”
