Birdworld is currently in an exciting stage of development and is delighted to be offering a unique career opportunity for an Animal Trainer and Education Presenter to join our animal team.
Working under the direction of the Education Team Lead you will focus your time on the training of our education birds for free flight public presentations and experiences. Ensuring animals are progressing along the training plans you have created, to be ready to take part in presentations in peak operational months. You will be responsible for the day-to-day husbandry of these animals and be expected to give public presentations and talks for various species around the park as part of our daily event programme. You may also be expected to support the education team by delivering discovery workshops as part of our school programme in our peak teaching months.
We expect you to have at least 2 years’ experience of practical animal training and husbandry and be able to demonstrate confident and inspiring public presentations to a general zoo audience. You will enjoy working alongside a variety of animals, working outside in all weathers, be physically fit and demonstrate a passion for birds.
This vacancy is a full time permanent position, working 38 hours a week, with weekend and public holidays being part of your working rota. Salary is dependent upon experience, but please email any questions on this role to HR@haskins.co.uk
