As well as caring for and breeding threatened species at the Park, Birdworld also has a Conservation Fund. Every penny it raises goes directly to support local and international conservation initiatives for the protection of endangered birds and their habitats.
No administration costs are taken and 100% goes directly to the charities on the ground.
Each year we review the initiatives to make sure that the best possible results are being achieved. Currently we are fundraising for and working closely with SANCCOB (The Southern African Foundation for the Conservation of Coastal Birds) and other rescue organisations worldwide to conserve wild penguin populations. Their numbers are declining at an alarming rate due to overfishing, pollution and other environmental factors. Birdworld is raising money to help rear rescued penguin chicks and re-release them into the wild.
Your kind donations also support many local conservation initiatives such as the creation of butter-fly meadows around the Park, protecting the local woodlands (the neighbouring Alice Holt forest) as well as local wild bird populations, such as the European Nightjar. The fund relies entirely on the generosity of individuals like you to continue our work both locally and internationally. Your donation will help more threatened species to survive.

Giving a gift in memory of a loved one to conserve bird life across the planet is a meaningful and lasting way to celebrate the life of a wildlife lover.
As a tribute to your loved one, every donation helps with our conservation work as well as caring for the animals in the Park.
If you would like to arrange an in memory donation, your funeral director can advise you on the wording. We can work closely with you and your funeral director and help to acknowledge every gift made with a personal letter of thanks.
As well as caring for and breeding threatened species at the Park, part of our role is to support local and international conservation initiatives for the protection of endangered species.

One vital role of a keeper is mentoring the next generation. If you are studying animal-based sciences, or want to develop practical skills in a zoo setting, Birdworld offers the ideal introduction to this rewarding working environment.
Join our enthusiastic team who take such great care of our birds, and who work tirelessly to raise awareness on the conservation of global species. You’ll develop your range of husbandry skills and techniques, and build confidence in the workplace. Naturally, there are necessary limitations to these roles, due to the complex nature of the animals and the Park environment.
Find out what it’s really like to be a skilled and caring keeper at Birdworld, and keep conservation moving forward.
