Part Time Conservation Education Guide – Weekends

We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Part Time Conservation Education Guide to join our Conservation Education Team.
Conservation Education Guides are responsible for supporting the Conservation Education Team Leader with telling the story of our collection. You will engage and educate our guests through delivering talks and animal encounters, whilst working alongside our animal teams, and supporting seasonal events.

Birdworld is home to a diverse collection of species and offers support for conservation projects around the globe. This role is all about sharing our conservation and educational objectives and achievements with our guests, so being able to talk to a range of audiences is considered essential for this role.

The successful candidate will need to be charismatic and outgoing, energetic, self-motivated, have good time management, organisation, and customer care skills with great attention to detail. They will also need to have a passion for educating and inspiring people about the natural world.

You will be actively engaging with guests during their visit by starting conversations, answering questions, and offering help and advice during their visit to Birdworld. This role is predominantly outdoors and will involve ranging across our 26 acre site throughout the day.
This is an ideal role for someone who wants to begin their career in zoo education and who has a passion for engaging a wide audience. This role would also be suitable for or a keeper looking for a change in career.

This vacancy is a part-time position, working 12hours each weekend. Your shift will be either 10:00am – 4:30pm or 10:30am – 5:00pm, with a 30 minute unpaid break every Saturday and Sunday. Shifts will be agreed in advance, and we ask for an element of flexibility with timings to ensure the operational elements of the park are covered. Current rate of pay for this role is £9.50 per hour.
