Toco Toucans live in the rainforests of South America. Despite making up a third of their total body length, their long beak is surprisingly light for its size, and is used to help them delicately pick fruit from trees!
Interesting fact... Toucans can regrow their tongues. This is very important as their tongue is long, like their beak, but extremely thin and breaks off with wear and tear.
Birdworld's mature male Toucan left the park in 2021 to be paired with a female at Paignton Zoo. This was an important step for the captive breeding programme. In his place we received the inquisitive youngster you see today, "Boy", who believes everyone coming to Birdworld has come just to see him.
