Grounds Assistant

We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Grounds Assistant to join the Birdworld team on a permanent, full-time basis, working 38 hours per week and includes a regular weekend day.
Current rate of pay for this role is up to £11.44 per hour.

About the Role
The role reports to the Grounds Team Lead.
This department at Birdworld looks after the extensive 26 acres of grounds, including the visitor facilities such as guest washrooms, litter/bin control, recycling management, upkeep of landscaped and garden areas as well as some general maintenance. Ensuring all areas are presented and displayed to the highest of quality for each guest, attention to detail is key. The candidate should enjoy working outside in all weather conditions.

Duties include:

  • Mowing of lawns and livestock paddocks.
  • Hedge cutting, borders and general landscaping.
  • Planting, clearing and maintaining general areas throughout the site.
  • Detailed upkeep of guest facilities, including washroom cleaning, waste and litter control.
  • Planning and preparation for events, eg. Christmas, Halloween and more.

Previous experience in a Grounds / Maintenance environment is essential, as well as experience of operating equipment such as mowers, hedge trimmers, ride-on tractors and other similar grounds specific equipment.
